Quinque Reference PlatformQuinque

ADI Engineering's Quinque (kwin kwe) X-2-PMC-SER-E-01 XScale™ Universal CompactPCI (6U) Hot Swap CPU board leverages the high performance, low power consumption and rich feature set of the Intel® XScale™ microarchitecture in demanding data communications, networking, and advanced embedded computing applications, including:

• Network Coprocessor
• Broadband Headend controller
• QoS Policy Manager
• Service Level Agreement (SLA) monitor
• Level 2 or Level 3 Packet Filter
• Storage Area Network controller
• SSL/IPSec Accelerators
• Wireless Basestations
• Blade Servers
• VPN Gateways
• Telecom Switches
• Routers

Quinque is designed to optimize both computational throughput and data movement concurrency through a high-bandwidth, balanced dataflow architecture. Quinque supports PICMG 2.1 Hot Swap, PICMG 2.16 Packet Swithced Backplane, and PICMG 2.3. Yet Quinque consumes as little as one-sixth the power of a typical x86 blade, reducing or eliminating system cooling and power problems while enabling dramatic increases in blade density and system capacity.

The Primary CompactPCI interface is universal, automatically self-configuring for either the CompactPCI System or Peripheral slots. ADI Engineering's XScale™ optimized SDRAM controller provides sustained memory bandwidth of 800 MB/s, up to 10x higher than previous XScale™ design approaches.

By providing a compatible big-endian XScale™ application environment, Quinque is ideally suited to provide adjunct management and control plane processing in systems utilizing the Intel® IXP425, IXP2400, and IXP2800 network processors.

Quinque is available as both a development kit, bundled with Linux BSP and ADI support, and as a low-cost OEM product. ADI stands ready to enable your high-performance CompactPCI XScale™ products with design licensing and customization programs. Please contact us for additional details.
