Cables

While our RF products remove the need for extended cabling, some local cables may be needed to integrate a wireless connection. Applications may require RS-232 and/or RF cables.

RS-232 and USB Cables
RS-232 cables provide a serial connection from a PC, or other device, to a serial port on an interface board designed to work with the wireless module. These cables are also used to make connections with our XStream-PKG™ stand-alone radio modems.

RF Cables
RF cables are typically used to connect from a wireless module installed in a cabinet to an antenna mounted external to the cabinet. As a general rule, it is best to keep the RF cable as short as possible. If the antenna is to be mounted on a 50 foot pole, put the wireless module as close as feasible and run a longer RS-232 communication cable. All RF cables have losses which are usually measured in dB of loss per 100 ft.
