Upgrade any Digi International's Digi Connect MEŽ Device Server to full
native
Modbus/TCP protocol support via a simple download of the ProtoCessor
Modbus Serial to Ethernet Router firmware.
Benefits
- Allow other native Modbus/TCP clients such as Ethernet enabled
PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA Systems to communicate
directly with your product
- Allow multiple Modbus/TCP Clients to connect to this Modbus/TCP
Server simultaneously
- Eliminate the need for serial port redirectors on workstations
- Allow Modbus/TCP OPC Servers to communicate directly with your
product
- Completely avoid timing sensitivities prevalent with serial
tunneling approaches.
Features
- Modbus traffic is cached and routed though the single serial port
automatically.
- The ProtoCessor Modbus Serial to Ethernet Router software is fully
qualified under the "Modbus Conformance Testing Program", as tested by
the Modbus/TCP Conformance Test Laboratory at the University of
Michigan, the official Modbus-IDA.org compliance testing body.
- The ProtoCessor Architecture provides multiple upgrade paths to
other protocols, whether they be BACnet IP, EtherNet/IP (ODVA EIP),
LonWorks, Profibus or DeviceNet.
Evaluation Software and Tools Provided
- Download 36 hour MSER (Modbus Serial to Ethernet Router)
evaluation
firmware here
- Download 36 hour Modbus/TCP server evaluation
firmware here
- Follow the download procedure to upgrade your embedded Digi
Connect MEŽ to a fully operational 36 hour version of a fully Modbus/TCP
compliant Modbus Serial to Ethernet Router.
Additional Support from ProtoCessor
If your product does not currently support Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII
you have a number of options:
- If it supports a protocol such as Metasys N2 Open then ProtoCessor
may have an off-the-shelf protocol conversion solution for you
already.
- You could use the ProtoCessor IO Driver Toolkit to write a driver
that would be linked with the Modbus/TCP protocol driver and
downloaded to the Digi Connect MEŽ
- You could request us to write the driver for you.
If your product does not already have a Digi Connect MEŽ Device
Server installed, consider designing in a ProtoCessor compliant socket
for full protocol support using the full ProtoCessor range of products.
OPC Server for Windows workstation support available
Get the full Modbus/TCP protocol specification from
www.modbus.org and
selecting the "Modbus Standard Library" link.
The full name of the Modbus/TCP protocol is "MODBUS messaging service
over TCP/IP" and comprises of Client, Server and Gateway
implementations. ProtoCessors support all three of these. The protocol
is sometimes referred to as "Modbus Ethernet", "Modbus over Ethernet" or
"Modbus TCP".
